I had noticed on Facebook a few weeks prior to this actual day, there was an event with the title “#RedefineMiami” I was interested in what the event itself would entail based on the scant information provided, I figured I could go and check out and see what happens..
I arrived at Beat Culture and walked up to the bar and ordered Cagation, I also asked about where the event was. I know they have an upstairs area and it was pretty busy when I got there. They mentioned it was to my left, where the gentleman was speaking into a microphone and had a projection screen set up. I walked over and and sat down.
I know I’ve had Cagation before, though I think it’s pretty tasty and I love porters and stouts.
The gentleman was talking about the future, in relation to self driving vehicles, automated trucks/cars. How automated trucks are the future and coming and how it would impact normal truck drivers. I found this was interesting topics of conversation and the impact it would whether it’s a year from now or two or three years from now.
Mind you, I was relatively quiet and listening to most of what was being said and I wasn’t exactly participating in the discussion, though
I enjoyed the topics of conversation being presented.
Afterwards, there was another person who spoke, I want to say his name was Alex and he was an entertainment attorney or something that had to do with Patents and Trademarks. He discussed things related to coming up with your own app, things to include and very useful information concerning what to put in the Terms & Conditions of apps and the importance of Copyrighting/trademarking things with the government.
Once he was done speaking, the event so to speak was done. So I walked over to the bar and sat down to have another beer. I again went with a beer I’ve had here before, Irregardless, their hefeweizen, which is enjoyable.
While sitting at the bar, I saw that Thirsty Samurai Piggy was live so I decided to watch him while I sipped on my beer, he was doing an off-tasting in order to study for his upcoming Certified Cicerone test. Doing off tasting is so not fun, though good for him for studying for the upcoming test!
While watching this, the person who ran the event came up and introduced himself as, Devon, he was a nice and friendly person, we spoke for a bit, the one thing I had made mention of was, that the event was a little early, it said 5 p.m., on Eventbrite and 6 p.m., on Facebook, since I work in Davie, I’m not always able to make it on time.
He did say he would try to make it start not as early, which would be good. Though we’ll see if I make it to the next one, although I would like to, for me it depends on what either other beer events are going on at the date of next meeting.
