I thought that my mom and aunt would have been in Orlando as I got to the hotel, since my mom had left to pick up my aunt from the airport and had left home earlier than I did. I called to see where she was and she said she would be there in an hour. I found Sea Dog Orlando seemed to be the closest location to the hotel, so I figured I my as well wait and drink some beers.
I opted for the Barrel Series, Pink Lemonade Blonde, White Chocolate Blackberry Porter and Bold City 1901 Red Nitro.
Barrel series, 12%, described as “First of seven in their barrel aged series. Bourbon barrel aged beer full bourbon with a citrus toffee finish”. My first sip I immediately tasted the bourbon and bitterness. I could smell the citrus/bourbon in the beer. I think the toffee is lost for me or that it was really light. It was alright.
Pink Lemonade Blonde, 5.1%, described “Simple maple sweetness with a smokey heat tingle to finish”. I think someone needs to work on their descriptions for beer. When I had my first sip, I instantly thought fruit loops! After I had another sip, I get a little maple and then a little smokey heat. It is pink lemonade in flavor, though I think it’s kind of light for “pink lemonade” flavor though I just still think fruit loops. All in all, it’s okay.
White Chocolate Blackberry Porter 6.1%, described as “White chocolate & blackberries without the dark malts create a robust bodied beer with style of porter, without the dark color.” I immediately thought, this is good! I think the flavors work really well together and are well balanced within. The blackberry comes thru and the white chocolate. I enjoyed this a lot. I tasted perhaps a slight vanilla note. It had some creaminess in taste and mouth feel to me, in it.
Bold City 1901 Red Nitro 7.5%, described “an ale that has all the chocolate and roasted nut flavor of a classic porter, with an enigmatic surprise thrown in for good measure, real vanilla bean.” Oh Wow! The “enigmatic surprise thrown in for good measure real vanilla bean” makes me laugh, I think it’s horrible, someone needs to help Sea Dog out in describing the beers in the tap room, they could use better wording. I thought that it did have porter flavors in it, and that it was decent. I think they needed to add a lot more of those real vanilla beans in here.
I ordered the Sea Dog Baked Pretzels, that comes with IPA Mustard and beer cheese dip. Let’s be real, it’s nothing out of this world, though it was decent to eat since this was my breakfast.
