I originally had planned on going home after work, though instead decided to head to The Mack House after work to see if they still had the Crooked Run beers on tap and I figured I could also work on a blog post or two while there.
I was happy to look on the menu board to see they still had the three Crooked Run beers on tap, so I ordered, Skilletized, 10%, Imperial Stout, described on Untapped as “a big, thick stout that’s all about breakfast. Rich espresso swirls with hazelnut, maple syrup is drizzled over layers of Madgascar and Mexican vanilla beans, all combining with huge chocolate malt and lactose to create a rich, luxurious breakfast stout.”
I got the maple in smell and taste, which was good. I did get some chocolate and a little hazelnut, I think the vanilla beans in this was really light. All the flavors were good and honestly I just enjoyed the hell out of it.
After enjoying the Skilletized, I opted for Sweet Creams Are Made of This, 5%, Berliner Weisse, it’s a collab with Hidden Springs Ale Works in Florida. It’s described on untapped as “inspired by a guava and cream pastelito, a delicious cuban pastry. You’re gonna get big flavors of guava, vanilla, and frosting with this pastry sour.”
My first sip of this I was just like “ahhhh” soo good. It was sweet and tasty, the guava, the vanilla, the lactose – just yes! All my day’s concerns, worries and stresses felt like they all melted away as I sipped on this refreshing delicious beer!
Once my goal of posting a new blog post was done, I finished off my beer and headed home.
