January 19, 2019 – Trench Day at Due South

I drove to “The Diner” in Boynton Beach in order to get some breakfast and head to NOBO and hangout there while I waited for 2pmish to make the line at Due South.

I ordered the “The Diner with Peameal” Egg Benedict. It was delicious. I also started with the French Vanilla Coffee Pot Porter with my breakfast.

Hung out here for a while and then walked to Due South.

Got there it was like 2:30-40pm. When we walked up when we able to check in and get our wristbands, they allowed us to line up and head into the brewery while we waited for the clock to strike 3pm – or for someone to strike the bell so we can begin drinking.

They were giving out samples of the Trench Day 2019 while we were waiting which was nice of them. I did enjoy this version of Trench.

Thankfully a few minutes before 3pm the bell was rung and now the beer can begin to flow. I went with the Breakfast Mariana Trench 10%, it was good I enjoyed the cinnamon coming thru.

Next was the Cookies and Cream Trench, 10%. I didn’t like this one. I think the 2017 version came out way better than this one. I don’t taste what I’m supposed to right away, I feel like it took me a couple of sips to notice a cookie/cream flavor to it, though meh, let down.

French Toast Trench, 10%. Smells syrupy, good flavor, hard to put finger on right away what I was experiencing taste wise. A little boozy. Some cinnamon. It was alright.

2015 RUM BA Trench, 10%. Smells of rum/booziness. Good flavor, a strong booze flavor though some sweetness within.

Oaked Mariana Trench, 10%. It had a good oak flavor that comes thru.

Java Trench, 10%. It was decent. Coffee comes thru.

Chocolate Cherry Trench, 10%. Good cherry flavor hits me right away, then the chocolate. This was very enjoyable.

2015 Bourbon BA Trench, 10%. Seems woodsy and boozy to me, hard to describe anything else aside from that, other than bourbon flavor in here.

2016 Trench, 10%. I immediately thought I tasted, cayenne/red pepper flakes/chili power right away. I liked this version a lot. I liked the spiciness to this one.

One Eyed Tiki. Coconut flavor is good.

Calling All Cars. Good, tasted cinnamon, porter flavor, some coffee, not so much on donuts. Could you add some more please?

Spicy Nutcracker – Why bother? It wasn’t great.

Silky Johnson. I love this one immensely. I love this beer! I think it’s great that they make a peanut beer. Not peanut butter, peanuts. The flavor is delicious! The peanuts come thru. I think one of these would be perfect for those sports loving fans on some game day.

Michael’s Bacon. Good smoky bacon flavor/smokiness in this beer. Good balance on the smoke for the cream ale. Enjoyable.

Blueberry Thyme Poter. I got the Thyme flavor first then the blueberry, it was good.

I ordered some food from Savoury Eats Food Truck. I got spicy boiled peanuts and and duck fat fried mozzarella sticks.

Saigon Blonde. First thing I tasted was cucumber. This tasted refreshing after I had been eating spicy boiled peanuts, except the jalapeño in this also kicked in after the cucumber. It’s a pretty good beer, probably better to try when I didn’t already have something spicy to be able to tell how spicy this is on its own. I feel like I would need to try this again, though good overall.

French 75 Brut. It was good. Had lemon smell and taste, a light tartness, not much. It had nice lingering lemon notes.

MF Boom. You could smell and taste grapefruit. It was good.

Coconut Bay Breeze, which is a blonde ale that has cranberries, pineapple and coconut. I think the cranberry comes thru, not too sure about how well the pineapple and coconut flavors came thru/wished they were a little stronger in this.

And in the end, a great Trench Day was had by all!
