January 25, 2019 – Invasive Species

Someone had asked me to provide them with some information on Broward Breweries, so while I was at, I looked at a few tap lists as well to see what was on draft. So, on Thursday I had seen that Invasive had “Sour Scoop” on tap, which is a collab with 3 Sons, I was curious to try it to see how good it really was.

Here’s what they had on tap:

So of course I started with Sour Scoop. I know that 3 Sons makes a BA Scoop and Double Scoop. And I was curious how the collab went. I think it smells like Neapolitan, you get some of the smells from the chocolate, strawberry and some vanilla. I don’t think it’s a tart beer, I tasted in order of Strawberry and Chocolate, not sure I tasted too much vanilla. I have to say I was underwhelmed by the beer. It’s not bad, though I’d say it’s an average kind of beer and should have been better.

Next up is Scooter Party Saison. I forgot to take a picture of it while it was fuller, though at least I remembered to take on before it was all gone..

I thought that it had good fruit flavor. It had saison notes oat the back end of the taste. Good passion fruit flavor. I felt like the flavors of passion fruit and raspberry blended well together. A little sweetness with some passion fruit and some tartness from the raspberry. While I was drinking the beer I felt like sometimes one flavor would dominate over the other at times.

The last beer I had was, Wake Up Call Lager. Couldn’t figure out which picture looked better.

I like when my lagers don’t taste like water. I could smell the coffee and also taste it. The vanilla came thru as well, though when it warmed up I felt less vanilla than initially. It was a nice light beer that was great way to finish the evening.
